Worship At St. John's: Advent and Christmas
Worship Times | Advent and Christmas | Holy Week and Easter
| Other Holy Days and Feasts

The seasons of the church year are set out to represent the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. We are careful at St. John's to prepare well for the important festivals, including observing a holy Advent leading up to the Feast of the Nativity, Christmas.

Advent III- Nine Lessons and Carols
The secong last Sunday before Christmas is one of the few times the Eucharist is not celebrated at 10am, replaced with this wonderful celebration of scipture and music. Fashioned like a vigil leading up to Christmas, it recounts the story of the promise of the ages being kept in God's sending of Jesus, born of Mary. Anthems, carols and beloved readings make up this service of the word.

Christmas Eve, 4pm - Family Service
This service is built around a simple communion, and will have you on your way in time for the children to be settled, ready for the visit of St. Nicholas.

Christmas Eve, 7:30pm and 10:00pm
Full, sung choral Eucharists crown our Christmas celebrations. You are welcome at these services which include beloved carols, anthems and the reading of the Christmas gospel. The 10:00pm service includes a candle-light singing of Silent Night. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Day, 10:00am
Christmas Day is second only to Easter as a high feast in the Church. At 10am, Christmas Communion is celebrated in the community. This service includes carols, a warm welcome and the good news of Christ's birth. You are welcome!
