The Reverend Mary Ryback
Born in Wollongong,
Australia, The Rev. Mary Ryback completed high school at St. Gabriel's
in Sydney (run by the Community of the Sisters of the Church).
In the early eighties Mary began part-time studies to earn her B.A., a long-time dream. After graduation Mary thought she would continue with her life. God had other ideas! Three years at Trinity College, Toronto were followed by ordination in the Diocese of Toronto. She served as Assistant Curate at Trinity, Port Credit, then moved to the beautiful rolling hills of Northumberland as incumbent of the Parish of Perrytown (three points). When her husband became ill, Mary's next parish was a two-point one (Colborne and Grafton) where she served half-time. After four years there, Mary retired. Five months later she was invited to join the staff of St. Peter's, Cobourg as Associate Priest, part time. Two years later she retired for the second time. After a hiatus of about two years she was invited to be the Interim Priest at St. Mark's, Port Hope. She retired for the third time! Last December she moved to Ancaster to be closer to family.
As Mary was given the Bishop's permission in May of 2016, she calls it a privilege to call St. John's her new spiritual home and an honour to serve as Honorary Assistant.
